Types of automatic transmission

Planetary automatic transmissions are the most common types of automatic transmissions in cars. In these gearboxes, power is transmitted through a set of solar planetary gears. The automatic clutch system (TORQUE CONVERTER) is hydraulic and has a control system. The AL4 gearbox used in 206, 207, SDV9 and Pars Automatic cars, as well as the gearbox of Suzuki Vitara, HC Cross and Haima S7 cars are considered to be of this type.

These types of gearboxes were first used by Nissan and have gradually been accepted by other car manufacturers. In this type of gearbox, power is transmitted by 2 cones and a metal or polymer belt that connects the cones together. The relative movement of the cones along their axis causes the gear ratio to change. The most important advantage of this type of gearboxes is the continuity of gear shifting, so at the moment of gear shifting, the car shakes and has a drop in revs. Suzuki Kizashi and Nissan Tiana are equipped with this type of gearbox.

The newest type of gearboxes used in cars, which was first used by Porsche in sports cars and has gradually been welcomed by car manufacturers. The structure of this type of gearbox is very similar to normal manual gearboxes, with the difference that this type of gearbox includes 2 independent gearboxes (for even and odd gears), each of which is independently connected to a clutch set. Clutching is done by electromechanical actuators and their control is done by the special processor unit of the gearbox. The most important advantage of these gearboxes is low energy loss and high power transmission efficiency. It is expected that the use of this type of gearbox in cars will grow more in the future. Renault Captur gearbox is of this type.

Tip tronic is one of several gearboxes developed by Porsche and used in various models of this company as well as cars of the Volkswagen Group and its subsidiaries such as Audi, Skoda, Seat, or even in higher models derived from this type of gearbox in Bugatti and Lamborghini cars. which is mainly produced in two groups of five-speed and six-speed with automatic and manual work basis.
This type of gearbox is also standardly equipped with a computer to better understand the condition of the engine, which is used in manual gear shifting mode to prevent damage. It automatically downshifts to the engine and gearbox in the red range of the engine speed.
